I observed the steady maturity of our chamber, which is now in its 3rd term since it was inaugurated on June 20, 2002.

Personally, I feel proud that the chamber has a team of dedicated and hardworking directors. Most of them hold senior positions in multinational firms or have their own companies. Despite their busy schedules they attend the chamber’s monthly meetings and carry out projects assigned to their various portfolios.

It is from this team of dedicated directors that I draw my inspiration to try my best to lead the chamber.

I would like to mention here that our patron His Excellency Dato Syed Norulzaman bin Syed Kamarulzaman has been a strong motivating force for us as well. He is a good example of an effective CEO ambassador in Thailand.

Recently, I have also observed an increased desire by members to support the activities of the chamber. This is another motivating factor for the directors to feel that they are moving in the right direction. Also, the ease of getting members to support directors to serve in the various committees lightens the burden for everyone and helps the chamber perform more effeciently. I am sure the chamber will grow from strength to strength if more Malaysians and Thai businessmen become members of the chamber. To this end, I appeal to members to recruit new members.

The economy of the world is going through many uncertainties. The increase in oil prices, the continued tensions in Iraq, the bird flu, etc. make it quite impossible for businesses to make accurate plans.
I can only say that in this tumultuous economic environment, quick-on-the draw action with calculated short- and long-term plans and plenty of luck is necessary for us to achieve some of our personal and company targets.
