On March 17, 2005 MTCC presented an afternoon session on โ?Doing Business in Thailandโ?? to a visiting delegation of Malaysian businessmen keen to set up business in Thailand. The delegation, comprising around 70 Malaysian businessmen were accompanying YB Minister Datoโ? Seri Rafidah on her tour of ASEAN countries. The Businessmen represented a wide variety of Malaysian industries, including palm oil, IT, biometrics, manufacturing, automotive, financial services.
Several MTCC Directors formed a panel to give informal talks to the visiting delegation. MTCC Chairman Mr Yeap Swee Chaun gave many practical tips on business transactions that were routine in Thailand, but not familiar to Malaysian businessmen, as well as pitfalls o avoid. Khun Supasak Chaisavinuprapand spoke on the legal and commercial aspects of setting up a business entity in Thailand, including directors/sharegoldersโ? requirements, investment requirements, business transactions. Ms Issabella Ho gave a briefing on intellectual property protection in Thailand, as well as tips on โ?dos and donโ?t โ?s in protecting technology transferred into Thailand. Along with Mr Dickson Lai, he responded to questions on the IT industry in Thailand, including size of IT industry, industry practice, relevant government agencies and so forth.
A lively Q& session covering a wide range of topics followed the introductory talks. Afterwards MTCC Directors and the visiting businessmen were able to network and exchange ideas.
