The trade and investment mission, on 17 – 19 March 2005, was led by the H.E. Rafidah Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry.

The objectives of the mission are to explore investment and business opportunities aimed at enhancing existing bilateral relations; to identify new areas for bilateral cooperation; and to enhance the participation of the private sector in the economic growth and economic integration of Malaysia and Thailand.

In conjunction with the Minister’s visit, a Malaysia-Thailand Business Opportunities Seminar was held on 18 March 2005, where a total of 686 Thai participants from various business sectors participated in the seminar.

The seminar provided an excellent opportunity for Thai private sector representatives to learn directly from the Minister about the latest developments in Malaysia.

A total of 335 business meetings were held between Malaysian delegation members and seminar participants. Business and investment discussions focused on sectors such as educational services, automotive components, plastics, construction, power generation, palm oil products and production of consumer goods.
