?The involvement of PAT in the PETRONAS Suvium promotional campaign was very meaningful as the lubricant was being used by all PAT vehicles in the 15,000 km journey under the most extreme geographical and weather conditions. Such a record-breaking journey was a strong evidence to prove that PETRONAS Suvium lubricants were truly engineered to deliver highest performance at the most demanding conditions,? said Mohd Aidnil.
Flagged off in from Kuala Lumpur on 8 July 2007, the PETRONAS South Asia 2007 Xpedition would see the 65-member team in 24 four-wheel drive vehicles traveling through Thailand, Laos, China, Nepal and India before drawing to a close in Karachi, Pakistan. The 60-day expedition was also the team?s biggest and longest overland expedition in terms of the size of the convoy and also the duration of the journey.
A part of the PETRONAS Motorsports family, PAT was formed in 1999 with the objective to view the world from a different perspective through 4-wheel drive and motorbike expeditions locally and abroad. These expeditions have taken to diverse environments around the globe ? from hostile deserts and snow-capped mountains to pristine rainforest and ancient trails through to the oldest civilizations on earth.
PAT has previously embarked on eight other expeditions carrying the PETRONAS and Malaysian flags in countries where the Malaysian national oil corporation operates. Past adventures include Passage to Tibet (1999), Indo China (2000), Silk Road (2001), Siberia (2002), Africa Trek (2003) and Trans Sahara (2004), Trans-Himalayas in 2005, and Nusantara (to Indonesia) in 2006.
